How to: Resume Builder
- Fill in your details, experience, education and skills.
- Choose a template, paper size and accent colour.
- Download your resume as a PDF.
Many “free” resume builders ask you to pay before downloading or add a watermark. This one creates a clean, professional PDF instantly. Enter your contact details, a short profile, jobs and education using a simple format, list your skills and languages, choose a template and download. The text in the PDF is real, selectable text, so recruiters and applicant tracking systems can read it.
Common uses
- Create a resume for job applications in any country.
- Write an academic or international CV on A4 paper.
- Update a resume quickly for different roles.
- Make a one-page profile for freelancing platforms and networking events.
Tips for best results
- Start each bullet with an action verb and include a result or number.
- Keep it to one page for less than ten years of experience.
- Use US Letter for the US and Canada and A4 almost everywhere else.
- Leave out photos, age and marital status for UK, US and Canadian applications.
Resume or CV?
In the United States and Canada a resume is a short summary of experience, usually one or two pages, while a CV is a longer academic record. In the UK, Ireland, Australia, India and much of Europe, “CV” is the everyday word for what Americans call a resume. The builder works for both – add sections as needed and choose the right paper size.
Writing the experience section
Type each job as one block: the first line holds the role, company and dates separated by vertical bars, followed by bullet lines that start with a dash. Leave a blank line between jobs. The builder lays out titles in bold, dates on the right and bullets with consistent spacing, and moves to a new page when needed.
